A year ago, I shared the photos from this fun vacation session (also my love for this talented mama), but I never got around to sharing their film! Wolfeboro, NH holds a special place in this family’s heart. It’s where these parents were married and where they’ve vacationed with their littles nearly every summer since. But let me tell you why memory is a funny thing…

It was such a treat for me to join them for part of a day and to document vacation memories for their boys. What’s worth mentioning is what I DIDN’T document about this day. Just before we left for the beach and ice cream, the A/C at their Airbnb went out. It was a sweltering day and, once we had parted, they had to stay the night in a hotel to escape the heat.

I could be accused of creating highlight reels for the families I serve…not telling the full story.

I’m not ashamed of it.

Life is full of disruptions and inconveniences, but at the end of the road, when their kids are grown (and suffering their own vacation woes), a broken A/C won’t be the thing these parents choose to remember. With a little help from me, they’ll remember the way their boys wrestled on the couch, their squeals of laughter at that funny part of the book, the pride they felt at their oldest’s newfound confidence swimming, and the way their youngest’s curls bounced as he ran across a field.

Like I said, memory is a funny thing. It has a sieve and a way of filtering out the less important stuff.

I like to think I’m just doing the same. 😉
